Former SriLankan batsman will support country’s leading not-for-profit organization working towards sports, education, and health and skill development of children across India
New Delhi, October 14th , 2016: STAIRS(Society For Transformation, Inclusion and Recognition through Sports), the country’s leading not-for-profit organization working towards sports, education, health and skill development of children across India today announced the appointment of former Sri-Lankan explosive opener and Former Deputy Minister of Local Government & Rural Development, Government of Sri Lanka, Mr. Sanath Jayasuriya as their Brand Ambassador. Mr. Jayasuriya shall be in the Indian capital for the opening ceremony of STAIRS School Football League’s 3rd edition on October 19, 2016.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sanath Jayasuriya, said “As a sportsperson I understand the importance of involving children in sports and the need for strengthening of sports at the grassroots level. I am happy to be a part of the initiative undertaken by STAIRS as I have first hand witnessed the great work they are doing last year and I really feel that there is no better way to improve this world. STAIRS is doing excellent work towards building a sporting ecosystem at the grass root in India. It is great to know that this year’s SSFL shall see the largest ever participation of school children and I wish STAIRS team and Siddhartha Upadhyay, Founder and Secretary General of STAIRS all the best.”
